The Return of the Lyrical Genius

I have previously written some mildly comedic limericks to celebrate various golfing highlights - originally as an ode to Europe's successful Ryder Cup defence last year and, subsequently, as a preamble to the Masters this year. As 2013 draws to a close (and the 2014 golf season starts), I thought I'd have another go. Enjoy.

Adam Scott's got a green jacket; his first
An Australian trend he reversed
He held off The Duck
With more skill than luck
"C'mon Aussie!", he yelled, unrehearsed

Now Sergio likes a whinge, all day long
Crowd; weather; opponent - he's never wrong
At the Players started tickin'
A timebomb of fried chicken
Once it went off, it sure left a pong

Young Rory was wayward this year
His driver was tricky to steer
Nike found one a bit bigger
He can now pull the trigger
On the right, folks can walk without fear

Tiger Woods is definitely back
With 5 wins, he's top of the pack
He's certainly no dunce
Yet broke the rules more than once
From Brandel, he sure copped some flak

Simon Dyson, whilst clad all in Nike
Tapped down a mark produced by a spike
Deliberate or no
Twas a pretty poor show
Dem's da rules; you're DQ'd, you tyke

Henrik's bounced back from the brink
Of despair; his game really did stink
He's the king of the moss
Redemption, by Boss
Smells sweet - Ponzi Man's in the clink

With Henrik, young Poulter had a bet
"A ton says I'll catch up with you yet"
Despite birdies galore
Stenson had just a few more
Ian'll serve drinks like an obedient pet

I am the Part-Time Golfer
